Dit is designed to be a cheap, simple yet effective application to allow computer type devices (Mobile phones, laptops, PCs etc.) to transmit their whereabouts to chosen destinations on an hourly basis.
The location of a device running the Dit client can be recorded and displayed on electronic maps using the Dit receiver (A separate application designed to communicate with a Dit client device).
Additionally, Dit clients that are a telephone can be used to signal an alert to Dit receivers in a clandestine manner.
The Dit client is paid for by annual subscription, per device. Dit receivers are free.
As Dit uses network bandwidth, there may be an associated cost for data transfers. These are intentionally very small to enhance the reliability of transmission and to keep costs low.
